Ufficio Nuovi Templi

In the post-war period, the Archdiocese of Milan experienced a time of intense urban and social transformation. Population growth, the expansion of the suburban area, and internal migration made it necessary to build new places of worship, spaces capable not only of welcoming emerging communities but also of responding to new architectural and liturgical sensibilities.

Ufficio Nuovi Templi is a photographic research project that explores, through a personal lens, the architectural sensibility of the Ambrosian Church in the post-war period. It documents how, between 1945 and the early 2000s, church construction in the Archdiocese of Milan was driven more by the needs of local communities than by monumental ambitions, reflecting a sacred language attuned to both the territory and social change.
